Who will develop these functional modules?

Functional modules for mobile devices could be developed by:

• Third parties. These could be companies providing services through the internet and which may want their service being supported by for example user interface applications. The third parties include the mobile device provider (e.g. Apple).
• Mobile network operators. The mobile phone operators could provide modules as they are in the position to promote services and associated application (modules) which increase the added value of their network.
• Users. The user community could develop simple applications for the mobile device. This is more like the open source model.
