Increasing content management problems as result of new technologies

Description:

New technologies: email, instant messaging, increased memory on computers,etc have caused content management problems for individuals: where do I file this email in folder a or b, where have I filed this email, how do I keep control of my three email accounts, how do I know which file lives on which computer, what is the latest version of a file, how do I share a file with others, how can I remember all passwords and loginnames?

These are just a few of a myriad of problems relating to content management in a world where no-one has learned how to deal with these issues and current software solutions are not (yet?) adequate.
