When mobile phone approached people's daily life in the beginning, people wanted more functions. Only after 3 decades of fast developing, mobile phone and other mobile devices can already provide as many functions as yone can think about. But now, do people really want those functions or just be attracted by the fancy functions and never use them? According to a recent study by the CMO Council's Forum to Advance the Mobile Experience (FAME), mobile phones are too complicated .

"The CMO Council's Global Mobile Mindset Audit, a milestone study of some 15,000 consumers in 37 countries, shows that "too many functions I did not use" is the number one device problem in all regions of the world. Compounding this complaint were disappointments in the early buying and ongoing ownership experience. Most notably, consumers gave low marks to retailers and carriers for lack of product demonstrations, sales associate knowledge, as well as slow service at point-of-sale."

Mobile phones are now more popular and have far more features than last year and yet most are unable to use more than the basic functions. 61% of mobile phone users in the UK are unable to progress past the phone calls, text messages, alarm clock and camera functions. 40% apparently don’t know if their phone has a camera function.

Over half (53 per cent) of people feel that modern gadgets have now become too complicated and could turn their back on technology, according to the latest report from online payments specialist PayPal. But another report we found says that people are happier with their mobile phone functionalities and services they get. So even if mobile phone keeps on becoming more complicated, people won't be scared. In front of all those functions, they just don't use it. As long as the price is reasonable, people won't be scared, they just take the new phone as a mean of showoff, with regard to the functions, they don't care, they just don't use it.
