Is it worth it?

Is the depletion of Bluefin Tuna worth the economic gains? The argument of the presentation is that the economic gains of a few individuals does not outweigh the costs of fishing tuna to extinction. One "high" estimate is that the monetary gains of fishing tuna in Italy (4.4 bln euro) only amounts to about 0.33% of the Italian GDP. Italy was one of the countries to protest against the ban on Bluefin Tuna fishing for Europe. Is the 4.4 bln euro worth the extinction of a species?
