Although mobile providers keep on saying that they'll try very hard to keep customers' privacy and data security, 
people still con't trust them 100%. According to IT Facts, 66% of cellphone users worry about sharing personal data.

Anxiety about sharing personal data is the biggest barrier to consumer acceptance of mobile banking and commerce (66%), according to Harris Interactive. Additional barriers to adoption: more exposure to fraud and financial scams (63% expressed concern); worry about losing a device containing valuable information (61%); concern about costs (58%); usability (43%), reliability (37%), and speed of wireless network (23%).

Mobile shopping and mobile bank are two examples, with them, we can see people's trust on mobile devices.

Almost 25% of cellulars phone users with mobile internet access now use their devices to buy goods and services online, near 20% saying they would like to someday use cell phones as a “mobile wallet,” according to Harris Interactive. Smartphone or iPhone users are more likely to “occasionally” use their device to make purchases - 25% said so, compared with 17% of mobile or cellular phone users. 77% of mobile users have “never” made a purchase with their device, compared with 65% of those with smartphones or iPhones.

16% of mobile phone owners use mobile bankingSome 16% of mobile phone subscribers already use mobile banking services, and 60% of them use the services at least once a week, the study found, according to Harris Interactive study. Consumers not currently banking or buying on-the-go expressed interest in having such applications on their mobile phones: checking bank account balances/transfer funds (35% selected this app); receiving text message alerts from financial institutions (33%); shopping (16%); making wire transfers and stock-trading (9% each)

Although people use mobile banking, but they don't really trust it. According to a survey in May, 2007, 49% of Americans view mobile banking as unsafe.
Early adopters are projected to be current mobile Internet users (MIUs), who represent 12% of US adults who own cell phones (approximately 27.8 mln people). 49% of Americans perceives mobile banking to be unsafe, yet analytical review shows that this channel offers important security advantages and minimized risks compared to online banking, Javelin Strategy & Research says.
