As defined by wikipedia: Mobile computing, a generic term describing one's ability to use technology untethered, but often used to refer to access to information or applications from occasionally-connected, portable, networked computing devices.

However mobile technology should be seen as more general. Any technology which enables someone to perform activities independent on the exact location. Mobile technology is typically associated with mobile communication. However mobile communication is just one aspect of mobile technology. Note that if data required for the activity can be taken to other places, then communication is not essential. It may be just processed at a different location.
