With the upcoming of IDTV, television is becoming more interactive because of functionalities such as video on demand, and real-time voting in certain game-shows. From a marketing point of view, it is also certainly interesting to invest in interactive, one-to-one advertising ways as opposed to the current one-to-many advertising format, since the audience can also decide on what kind of advertisements they will see.
