The budget of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation was 5.7%, (327 billion rubles) of the total government budget in 2008. The budget of the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Russian Federation was 2.3 %, (134 billion rubles) of the total government budget in 2008. The combined total for these two ministries is around 8% of the total government budget.

Energy Infrastructure

Under the federal program “Development of Russia’s energy sector for 2007-2010, and through 2015” was to receive 51.1 bln. rubles in 2008, which 2.8 times more than in 2007; in 2009-2010 it was to further receive 184.3 bln. rubles. The program is aimed at modernization of nuclear power generators, completion of construction on high-availability nuclear power generators, construction of new nuclear power plants.

In 2008-2009 the federal government will transfer 30 bln. rubles and 60 bln. rubles, respectively, into the budgets of core electric power companies (Federal network company of the Unified energy system, the Federal hydroenergy company, System operator – Main dispatch control, Unified energy system).


Airports

The federal government has set aside 21.3 bln. rubles in 2008 for airport infrastructure development and air transport support (a 150.3% increase from 2007).


Motor Roads


The federal government planned to spend over 249.0 bln. rubles on roads in 2008, and over 260 bln. rubles in 2009.
