Name

Software industry moves from developed countries to emerging markets i.e. US to India, China, Brazil, Israel, etc.

What

As the software industry moves from developed countries to emerging markets, the future of the creation of software will be significantly affected in terms of who is creating the software, what kind are they creating, consumer preferences, service level, and more.

Enablers

Government policies Policies of emerging markets are subject to less regulation, allowing all firms, large and small to innovate in any way possible. Software quality may decrease but innovation will increase. Agreements between countries will fuel free trade and economy growth of involved countries will begin to converge.

Economy As more emerging markets take place in developing software, economies of the developed countries that rely on the software industry to maintain their economies will fall.

Consumer Demands Consumers will demand cheaper products, knowing that they are coming from emerging markets but regulations in developed countries will make it difficult for the end users to save on costs.

Industry Industry regulations in developed countries will favor firms instead of consumers, allowing firms with productions overseas to realize cost savings instead of the consumer.

Inhibitors

Government policies Disagreements between governments regarding foreign investments and free trade will inhibit moving the software industry overseas.

Economy As more emerging markets take place in developing software, economies of the developed countries that rely on the software industry to maintain their economies will fall. This may force developed economies to move the industry back.

Consumer Demands Consumers may demand higher quality products with service centers located nearby which would inhibit moving the industry overseas.

Paradigms

Software creation in emerging markets will become the norm.
