Main trends in health in the next 10 years

- System of hospitals will develop towards large hospitals/expertise centers (1 per approx 400,000 citizens), with in smaller health care centers providing the basic care (home doctor, dentist, pharmacy, …) in locations in between the large hospitals
- Patients will have their own file with all medical information, accessible for all health care professionals
- Accessibility of hospitals will be crucial
- Other important factors like way of construction of hospitals, installations, hygiene: these will require more capital
- Possible change of power: now very much with the specialists, might change
- More women working in the hospitals
- Enhanced pressure on reducing costs and increasing efficiency
