Description:

With the increased understanding of soil biology, it is also better understand what the impact is of the conventional or industrial agriculture on the ability to carry/absorb CO2 in the soil. Deforestation and desertification are two major appearances caused by industrial or conventional agriculture that have negative impact on the ability to store CO2

Enablers:

  • Regenerative business practices influence of agriculture
  • Role of educators in professionalizing farming
  • Advance in alternative farming methodologies and influence on industrial agriculture

Inhibitors:

  • Increased automation of agricultural farm processes
  • Advance in alternative farming methodologies and influence on industrial agriculture

Paradigms:

The transformation from conventional/industrial agriculture towards regenerative agriculture

Experts:

  • Green House Gas Protocol for scope 3 GHG accounting instructions (accounting model to calculate the impact on deforestation and desertification on the CO2 release in the atmosphere).
  • Kiss the ground documentary (Netflix)

Timing:

  • 2010/2020 when researchers start to spread the ability to store CO2 in the soil and the impact of deforestation and desertification on the CO2 in the atmosphere
  • 2020: release of Kiss the ground
