In order to have mobile access to the working environment at anytime, the mobile worker will be equiped with one or more of the following devices:
- Laptops: Small mobile personal computers equiped with WiFi network cards for wireless internet access
- PDA's: Handheld devices used for email, internet access, calendar, address book, task list, memo pad, clock, and calculator software. Often they have synchronization tools for synchronizing with your personal computer
- Smartphones: A mobile phone with comparable functionalities as PDA's
- Tablet PC's: A slate-shaped mobile computer. Its touchscreen or digitizing tablet technology allows the user to operate the computer with a digital pen instead of a keyboard or mouse.

All of the devices include internet access and browsing capabilities. They must have trustworthy security capabilities.
