Description

One of the key issues in the area of child protection is the way in which child protection authorities and immediate families respond to cases of child abuse. Many organizations in form of focus groups are now advocating for the abeyance of the rights of the child as a result of mainly social and political issues worrisome to the wellbeing of children. They would rather prefer children spend much time at home with their families. The $100 laptop project gives a very good breathing atmosphere to enable children have more time with their parents at home and even pursue their studies from home since most crimes against them is from schools and day cares.

The shift from preventing risks or social ills towards the creation of family and community capacity is now a dominant trend in policy and practice. It’s really about choices and doing what is right for your own family. An important consequence of the changes in children related adoption policies are increasing family and community diversity; this derives from both domestic and international adoptions. Diversity occurs along a variety of social dimensions including religion, ethnicity, socio-economic status, race and sexual orientation.
