By 2008, China will have between 200 million and 300 million Internet devices and millions more users, said Edward Tian, China Netcom Corp.'s chief executive.

He spoke at a panel on "China's Rise: Regional and Global Impacts" at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Internet use has grown from a few thousand seven years ago to more than 60 million today, putting China ahead of Japan and only second to the United States, which has about 200 million users, Tian said.
