Description

In order to make electronic versions of all the books in the world there has to be a way to duplicate them. Do we use employees to scan all these books or do we use some kind of page turn equipment to scan / photograph the pages. Are all stakeholders willingly to lend us the books we want and how long will it take to digitalize all the books in the world. What are the costs of such an operation and do all the books have to be in good shape in order to duplicate them.

Enablers

  • Increases availability of books in the world
  • Retrieves books that were thought to be lost
  • More exposure from books that were private property
  • Higher books sales for publishers because books are easier to find

Inhibitors

  • Copyrights (who owns the book)
  • Do we have enough money to digitalize all the books and who’s paying
  • How do we digitalize all these books
