Are e-books an environmental choice over books?

Yes, they are, but only if you compare e-books with new paper books.

Each year, 37 million tons of paper books are thrown away that could be used for recycling.

On the other hand,to read an e-book on an e-reader there is energy consumed. But e-readers can have hundreds of book available making it a product that reduces waste because it's used over and over.
