Name of the driving force:

Global mobile penetration

What:

The mobile phone industry is growing every year and you cannot think about not having a mobile phone. In 2008, 50% of the world’s population (4bln people) carried a mobile phone. The use of mobile phones will grow further which means that around 2013, 6 billion people will carry a mobile phone worldwide.

Mobile internet is also becoming more and more important every day. People want to stay connected everywhere anytime. Nowadays we see that not many people use mobile internet, but not yet very often outside the house or on the move (only 6%). 70% of mobile Internet use takes place in the home, 11% browse when at work. 87% access the mobile Internet more than once a day with more than half accessing 5 times per day 81% surf for 15 minutes per session.

But there is more, the results also showed that 60% of users use the mobile Internet for social connection. As you can imagine we’re not only going to use a mobile device for making a call, but also for browsing the web or using it as a remote control.
