According to Ian Weightman, senior vice president at Intex Management Services Ltd, a marker research company forecasted that the number of European homes receiving digital TV would grow from around 47 million to 108 million in 2009. He also said that in 2009 almost 14 million of these digital TV households would be receiving broadcast HD programming, which would represent around 7% of all European homes with a TV.
Nielson’s study on United States showed that the total number of television households within the US (including Alaska and Hawaii) would be 112.8 million by January 1, 2008-- an increase of 1.3% from the previous year.
